This winter has been one of record snowfall and freezing temperatures, leaving us to entertain ourselves indoors. Of course I go straight to the various food blogs and my recipe book collection to find something new and tasty to make. During my little recipe scavenger hunt I discovered a couple that I still have from a Food Skills class I took in middle school. I know, who could believe I still have these things. This one is definitely a favorite of mine. You can tell by all the vanilla stains on the paper that I made these a lot. I was apparently a little messy in my early cooking days.
Orange Julius
1 6oz can frozen orange juice
1 cup water
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup sugar
10 ice cubes, crushed slightly
Put all ingredients in the blender except milk and ice. Blend mixture at the lowest speed for a few seconds. Keep the blender on the highest speed and add the ice cubes 2 at a time. Add milk and blend a few seconds. Pour into glasses and enjoy.
Other variations:
Use 1/2 cup frozen strawberries or 1/2 can peaches in place of juice.

Oh sounds great!
Enjoy!
Oh I loved the Orange Julius as a kid. How wonderfully nostalgic!
Mmm… I love orange flavored smoothies.
Haven’t had one for years. It certainly brings back memories. Thanks Jamie, I’ll have to give it a try…unless you want to come here and make it for me?
