The drought is killing the CSA

by M.O.M. on July 16, 2010

We have had a lot of DRY, HOT and HUMID days here in Virginia. Our weekly veggies are certainly limited these days, not saying I can even keep up with all the goodies that have survived. But it is sad that the local crops are drying up. We were notified this week that the one grower lost the entire crop of corn and the potatoes are literally baking in the ground.

From the surviving vegetable I’m able to enjoy a wide variety of tomatoes, some of which I’ve never tried before.  We are getting carrots, even dark red ones; cucumbers; peppers; and squash.

I’ve not been cooking much lately but eating a lot of raw vegetables.

To your health!

I sympathize. I live in California and the high today was 69. I’m still wearing my winter clothes to work. Our produce is being affected, too.
