What can I say? It’s about as old skool as it gets and no matter how old you are there’s nothing like a newspaper hat. I remember making them with my Grandpa when I was little.
Everyone has a little newspaper lying around and if you don’t, you know someone who does.
I had to search the web to remember how to fold newspaper into hats…I know, I know….what can I say, it’s been awhile.
I found two different hats from one fold and two different folds to accommodate for size.
The only difference between sizes is use a single long sheet of newspaper for smallĀ (or child size) hats and a full double wide sheet of newspaper for large (or adult size) hats.
1. Lay newspaper out vertical and fold down on the natural newspaper fold.
2. Fold the corners in and down so they meet in the middle.
3. Tape the triangles down to secure them.
4. Separate the two sections of the bottom half and fold them up on each side.
For a sailor style hat, simply tape the sides and open the hat.
For a pirate style hat, tuck the corners in to create a solid triangle. Open the hat.
Viola!
